Movie preview: Manorama, starring Abhay Deol
Manorama Six Feet Under is climbing the curiosity charts with the nation and here we are, again, bringing you a preview of the movie. It is the first feature film by Navdeep Singh, which explores Indian life in a small town. He has tried to make it every bit of an entertainment, while also keeping in mind the tough task of the movie’s story to be kept crystal clear, and be presented in the same manner to the audience.
Being described as a homage to the noir genre, the film’s story revolves around an amateur detective Satyaveer Singh aka SV in a small town, played by Abhay Deol, who finds himself embroiled in a typhoon of lies, deceit and murder. Although SV is a government engineer, but he has always passionately maintained an ambition to write fictional detective stories. His first detective novel, which goes by the name of Manorama, is a no show and this leads him to a life, where he is left with nothing more but to write for roadside cheap pulp magazines.
But soon, life takes another turn. SV, who is now fed up by this existence is one day paid a visit, by the wife of a local powerful politician. She arrives with an offer where she asks SV to spy on her husband, thereby giving him a chance to play a real life detective. And does SV accept the offer? You guessed it right! But all this doesn’t end with the assignnemt getting completed by SV. Soon he gets to learn that the woman wasn’t what she had claimed to be, and the situation worsens when she dies mysteriously in an accident.
This is when SV starts to investigate her death, in order to set the record straight and soon discovers that nothing is what he thought it was, and that reality can be, sometimes, far more deadlier than fiction. The story is truly captivating, but what remains to be seen is whether the movie hits the bull’s eye at the BO, or whether it goes many feet under the public memory, too fast to remember!
