A R Rahman’s magic on the foreign soil
It has happened numerous times on Indian soil but now its time that the world should know about the ace music composer, A. R. Rahman. He has been awarded with the Satellite Awards in the category best original score for the movie, Slumdog Millionaire. Given by International Pres Academy, Satellite Awards is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards and holds a special position amongst different sought after awards.
Apart from the best original score, Slumdog Millionaire also won satellite wards in the Best Director and Best Picture-Drama category. These awards are a sort of morale booster for the SlumDog team ahead of the Golden Globe awards.
The film, Slumdog Millionaire, tells a hart rendering story about an orphan who rises above all odds and goes on to win a staggering amount of Rs. 20 million on India’s version of Who wants to be a Millionaire. Shot in Mumbai and a directorial expertise of Danny Boyle, this movie has everything, story, drama, thrill, excitement and a lot more, which you have ever wanted.
Ranked 4 by Associated Press, Slumdog Millionaire has won four Excellent Dynamic Activism awards or EDA awards, including best Direction and best Film. Besides, it won Best cinematography prize and earned 6 critics choice nominations from The New York Film Critics’ Circle for Picture, Writer, Director, Composer, Young actor and Song. Moreover, last week, it won two awards in the category best Director and Best Composer from Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
With lots of Accolades, prizes and awards won, we surely can think about bringing Golden Globe awards home in the best Composer category and, for that we need to wait and watch. But, one thing that we, the viewers, are eagerly waiting for is, the screening of Slumdog Millionaire in our own country.
