Abhijeet Sawant was born on October 7, 1981 in Mumbai, India. He was the winner of India’s first musical reality show Indian Idol. Abhijeet beated another strong contestant, Amit Sana, for the title of First Indian Idol by rendering his famous song Mohabbatein lutaaonga mein chedd ke mann ka saaj in the final episode or grand finale. The prize given to him after winning the title was a contract worth Rs 1 crore from Sony Entertainment and a car.

After the title of first Indian Idol, his first solo album titled Aap ka Abhijeet was released on April 7, 2005. As expected the album did reasonabaly well in Indian market. After the success of his first album, he released his second album in the form of Junoon which also proved out to be a big success too. He also competed in the first edition of Asian idol which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Right now he is competing with some other fine singers in the Star Plus musical show Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar. He has also done playback singing in some bollywood movie too.
