Akshay Kumar required was on the lookout for a fresh face for his movie Khatta Meetha. Priyadarshan recommended the name of south Indian star Trisha to Akshay. He viewed some of her movies and was impressed enough to give her the nod. Now the director has signed her for the movie. In fact, Priyadarshan gave her first break in the south as well.

Trisha has so far starred in 28 Tamil and Telugu films in total. She is very happy at getting the break and is all ready to show her talent to the audiences in the north. She is another one of those model turned actresses but she has made the transition rather well. She recently said that she was very hesitant at first when she entered into films thinking that she was misfit. However as it turns out she was wrong and she now has a strong footing in the south Indian cinema.

There have been two other actresses from the south who have made a strong impact with their very first movie in Bollywood. Asin Thottumkal garnered positive reviews for her performance in the movie Ghajini that was a blockbuster. She will be seen in the movie London Dreams alongside Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan. Genelia D’Souza is another actor who made it big with her first movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa.

She will be hoping to follow the footsteps of her colleagues from south. The shoot for the movie will begin in the month of October with Pritam giving the music in six of the songs in the movie.
