Bollywood current king, Akshay Kumar, has replaced mega star Amitabh Bachchan in Deepa Mehta’s next film titled Komagata Maru. The Oscar nominated director was first in mood to have Amitabh in the lead for her film but now she has approached Akki for the lead role. Akshay has also given his nod to her for the film.

According to the sources, Big B couldn’t do the role because he didn’t have the Canadian citizenship. However, Akshay has a permanent resident status in canada and therefore has been chosen to play the lead role of a sikh in the film. reportedly, Komagata Maru is a Canadian government financed film.

According to Akshay, this is the first time he is working with any Oscar nominated director in any film. He loved the concept of the film and therefore gave his nod for the film. Akshay is playing a brave sikh named Gurdit Singh in the film who is the lead character of the movie.
