Akshay makes an appeal to all the critics

Akshay Kumar has taken a huge sigh of relief since the strike ended and is ready with his movie Kambhakkt Ishq. He recently said on his blog that the industry had to incur huge losses due to the strike that went on from April 9 to June 5. Now he is worried that with all the producers lining up to release their movies the audiences will not be able to enjoy the movies. He used an interesting metaphor to covey what he meant.

He said that there is a difference between a buffet and an a-la-carte meal. Now it will be like a buffet and the audiences will not enjoy top the fullest. He also urged all the movie buffs to go out to the theatres to watch the movie and help in putting an end to the piracy. He revealed that the industry loses out nearly 35% of the revenues each year to piracy.

Now the second request was to all the critics who play a huge part in deciding the fate of the movie. He made a humble appeal to the critics to give the movies a little bit of time to settle in. A little bit of breathing space is what he asked for. He said that he is not asking them to change their reviews but just hold them back for a few days.

25% of the revenue losses are due to the critics who give below average rating to the movies. Sometimes it happens that after watching the premiere of a movie the critic writes it off and then the movie is badly hit at the box office even before it is released on Friday’s. The power in the pen in huge and what they write has a domino effect whether good or bad.
