Amrita Rao made a name for herself with her performances in movies like Vivah, Ishq Vishk and Main Hoon Na. Though the movie gave her recognition, they also attached the tag of girl next-door image with her. The tag has managed to travel with her wherever she goes. She was also quite satisfied with the scripts she was offered until very recently when she decided to go in for an image makeover.

A reason for the shift could be tha fact that she was feeling neglected. Recently when all the actresses and actors were made a part of Karan Johar ad campaign to raise voter awareness and ask them to go and vote, she was not made a part of it. She recently walked out on Yash Chopra when she refused a part in Bachna Ae Haseeno. Her part was finally played by Minisha Lamba who saw her career touching new heights after the movie was released.

She said that she could not identify with the character and that is why she walked out. She will now after losing out on a wonderful opportunity try and do some repair work. For the first time she will be seen in a completely glam avatar in her next movie Shortkut - The Con Is On. This will be the first time in this movie that the ace designer Manish Malhotra will be doing the costumes for her.

Besides this, she will also be having Hook Ya Crook releasing this year. Despite being left out of the ad campaign, she was the first one to vote in Mahim area reaching the booth as early as 7 AM.
