Bollywood musical romatic flick, Anarkali, directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal and written by Hamid Dutt was released in the year 1953. The movie starred Pradeep Kumar and Bina Rai in lead roles while Noor Jehan, Manmohan Krishna, Kuldeep kaur, Ruby Mayer, S. L. Puri and Mubarak also played important characters in the film. The evergreen music of the movie was composed by the legendary music director C. Ramchandra while the songs were beautifully sung by Hemanata Mukherjee, Lata Mangeshkar, Geeta Dutt etc.

Shehenshah Akbar ( Mubarak ) get married to Jodha Bai. Soon they becomes the proud parents of Sehzada Salim ( Pradeep Kumar ). Years later, Akbar meets with a beautiful girl named Nadira ( Bina Rai ) and get impressed with her. He ask her to wish anything as reqard but she only demands an ‘Anar’. Akbar then gives her a new name, Anarkali. He then come across to her when she manage to save Salim’s life when he was seriously wounded in a war. Akbar once again ask her to wish for a reward but she turned down his offer once again.

Akbar then come across to her for the third time, when she dances in his court under the influence of alcohol. He sentenced her to prison for her bad behaviour in the court. But he get the shock of his life when he reveals that his son, Salim is madly in love with Anarkali and wants to get married with her at any cost? What will be the result of this love relationship between Salim and Anarkali?
