Bollywood family drama flick, Chanda Aur Bijli, directed by Atma Ram was released in the year 1969. The movie starred Sanjeev Kumar and Padmini Kolhapure in lead roles while Akashdeep, Jeevan, Junior Mehmood, Ulhas and sachin also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the hit veteran music director Shankar Jaikishen while the songs were rendered by Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a young and beautiful girl named Bijli ( Padmini Kolhapure ) who is working in the gang of some petty theifs. Bijli is a street dancer. Sachin is living a very bad lifestyle in an orphanage as the conditions for the children in the orphanage is not good at all. The manager of the orphanage always treats the children in a very bad way. Sachin decides to stand against the manager and the bad treatement all the children including him are facing in the orphanage. He becomes the leader of the children in the orphanage and as a result of this he is badly beaten up by manager.

Orphanage manager then reveals that Sachin actually belongs to a royal wealthy family. He then plans against him and decides to inherit all his wealth. But Sachin reveals about his intentions and runs away from there. Now sachin has no idea where to go as he has no one to help him. He has decide now whether he wants to live alone or return to the orphanage.
