Year 2009 will see the beginning of a new chapter in Bollywood. This year is going to be a debutants year because at least 12 directors will make their debut. The most anticipated among all are Zoya Akhtar’s “Luck By Chance”, which stars her actor-cum-director brother Farhan, Ajit Pal Mangat’s “Victory”, which is slated to release on 30th January, Nandita Das’s “Firaaq”, Kran Rao’s “Dhobi Ghat”, which stars her husband Aamir Khan and Anthony D’Souza’s “Blue”, Bollywood’s ‘first underwater movie’.

Anthony’s “Blue” is Rs 120-crore project. Mangat’s movie stars Harman Baweja in the leading role and a galore of international cricketers. This movie is completely based on the game of Cricket. Aamir’s wife Kiran has assisted on movies like “Swades” and “Lagaan”, but this time she has gone forward and is doing full-fledged direction. About Aamir she said that directing Aamir is very delightful for a director.

Hollywood’s blockbuster movie “The deep and Jaws” inspired Anthony D’Souza who came up with this project named “Blue”. His biggest fear was to shoot with 40 real sharks.

Zoya Akhtar is promising that “Luck By Chance” will give an “insiders’ view of Bollywood” to the viewers.

The other debutant directors on the list are Sabir Khan who is directing “Kambakkht Ishq”, which stars Akshay Kumar, Sylvester Stallone and Kareena Kapoor; Madhureeta Anand who is directing “Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye”; Nisha Chainani who is directing “42 Kms, on the Mumbai marathon”; Sudipto Chattopadhyay who is directing “Pankh” which stars Bipasha Basu; Rensil D’Silva who is directing “Jihaad”, which stars Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan; Mudassar Aziz who is directing “Dulha Mil Gaya”; and Ayaan Mukherjee, Kajol’s cousin, who is directing “Wake Up Sid”, which stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey.

All these directors are having their debut, but only time will tell who will satisfy the viewers.
