The Hindu festival Diwali also known as Deepavali is a festival of lights celebrated in this country which is a land of festivals. The festival of Diwali originated after the success of the Lord Rama over the evil Ravana. According to our mythology, Diwali is a celebration of return of Lord Rama after his victory over the evil Ravana who, forcefully, took Goddess Sita with him. Ram, Laxman and Sita were required to live life in the forests for 14 years and this is where Ravana abducted Sita. The day Ravana was killed is celebrated as Dussehra that usually comes 19-21 days before Diwali.

The importance of the festival can be understood from the fact that the festival is not only important to us but is also significant to the Bollywood. There have been several movies in past that explored the joy involved in the festival. Not only the old movies like Haqueeqat and Hariyali Aur Rasta but also the recent flicks like Home Delivery and Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya, gave the audience the gift of Diwali songs.
