Bollywood family drama flick, Ek Bechara, directed by S. M. Abbas, was released in the year 1972. The movie starred Jeetendra and Rekha in lead roles while Vinod Khanna, Johnny Walker, Anwar Hussain, Saloni, Kalpana, Bindu and Pran also played important characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was composed by the hit veteran music director duo Laxmikant Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a guy ( Jeetendra ), who is living a poor and lonely lifestyle in the city. He come across a beautiful girl ( Rekha ) and get attracted towards her. But the problem is that Rekha belongs to a wealthy family and Jeetendra is a poor guy. Jeetendra doesn’t even dare to express his feeling for her as he knows it very well that a rich girl like her will never accept him as his lover. But he always follows her everywhere and admires her beauty.

Rekha reveals about him and confronts him for following her. But when she learns that he is truly in love with her, she forgives him. Rekha too get attracted towards his simplicty. Meanwhile, another guy ( Vinod Khanna ) enters in Rekha’s life. Vinod has been selected by Rekha’s parenst for her marriage. Vinod belongs to a wealthy family and is also in love with Rekha. Now Rekha has to choose between Jeetendra and Vinod.
