Favorite Shreya Ghoshal Songs
She is one of the leading female singers in Bollywood today, who was discovered by none other than Sanjay Leela Bhansali, when she was singing on the Indian television show Sa Re Ga Ma. Yes guys! We are talking about none other than Shreya Ghoshal. The singer who is of Bengali origin, grew up in the remote southern corner of Rajasthan, in the small township of Rawatbhata near the city of Kota. Belonging to a highly academic family, she had started singing at the age of four. Her beautiful voice can be traced back to her mother, who would watch Shreya sing along while she would play the harmonium. Though, her father recognized her talent early, it took some time for her to start getting trained in Indian classical music in Kota.
While watching the show Sa Re Ga Ma, SLB decide that no one but her should be the voice of Paro in his blockbuster hit Devdas. And then there was no looking back for this beautiful girl with a beautiful voice. All songs of Aishwarya Rai were done by her in the movie, while Kavita Krishnamurthy, was the voice of Chandramukhi played by Madhuri Dixit. They exchanged characters for one song each, Shreya gave Madhuri her voice for just 2 lines in the song ‘chalak chalak’, while Kavita’s voice was lent to Ash in the song of separation, ‘hamesha tumko chaha’. Her ‘silsila ye chaht ka’ remains one of the most beautiful songs ever. That Shreya could do songs of such high rendition was proved in just one movie. But her versatility was proven as soon as she recorded one of the sexiest songs in Bollywood history forever, ‘jaadu hai nasha hai’ from the erotic thriller Jism. Later inan interview she said that while recording the song she had thought that Bips and John would be making out on a haystack instead of a beach.
Soon she was found recording left right and center, as producers and music director were queuing up to sing her on. Her soothing yet impossibly romantic voice gave her an edge comparable to biggies like Sunidhi Chauhan and Alka Yagnik and she has recorded songs in a number of languages , including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, and Marathi, besides Hindi. And some of the movies she has sung songs for are: Jism, Saaya, Out of Control, Khakee, Munnabhai MBBS, Dhoop, Aarman, Tujhe Meri Kasam, LOC Kargil, Aetbaar, Police Force, Lage Raho Munnabhai, and this years first blockbuster Guru.
