The standoff between the moviemakers and the multiplex owners has finally ended and the strike has been called off. Finally, the movies will start to hit the theaters from 12 June after nearly a drought of two months due to the strike. The decision to end the strike was taken after a long meeting on Thursday between the two parties after thoroughly discussing the terms and conditions.

Here is a summary of all the terms and conditions. The profit shares for the moviemakers will be 50%, 42.5 %, 37.5 % and 30 % respectively for the firth four weeks. However, there are exceptions. If the movie does more business than Rs. 17.5 crores then the profit share in the first two weeks will go up by 2.5 %. There is also a downside to it. If the movie fails to do business of ten crores then the profit share for the first two weeks will go down by 2.5 %.

Sounds a fair decision keeping in mind it was one of the major problems as to what happens when a movies doe well or flops. Another important thing is the decision to market the movie. If the distributor releases more than five hundred prints of the movie then he will have the entire say as to how to market the product.

In addition, the planning for the release will start four weeks in advance so that the multiplexes do no walk away at the last moment leaving the movie with no time to reschedule. The distributors will send their plans to the multiplex owners and they will make a quick response as to whether or not they will be releasing the movie.
