Go : Music Review

We won’t say that the music of this movie is too good or too bad, but Go might do some good for the music composer Sneha Khanwalkar, and might take her a long way. Her work sounds promising enough. She is the prime composer of the movie’s music, even though overall the music fails to impress hard. The very titles of the songs are proof enough that the music is just for the sake of it.

The first song has been sung by Farhad Bhiwandiwala and Priyadarshini. The song ‘kaash’ is already making waves, and literally in the video which has the lead actors Nisha Kothari sizzling up the screen and newcomer Mohit showing off his six pack abs to full glory. The song is done in a sensible way, and without much disturbances it does give itself a distinct feeling of having been done differently. It might just survive for quite some time on the chartbusters.

Milind Gadagkar has penned the lyrics of the next song, ‘oooh’ by Vinod Rathod and the very talented Sunidhi Chauhan. It has the feel of a dance number to itself, and seems like this one has some ‘new’ feel to it with all the experiments that have been done to make the song better than a mere ‘ooooohh’! It has a very young feel to it and might just click with the younger audiences.

And with the title song ‘go’, you can just go ahead without giving it a second chance because of the way the song opens up, which seems not only kiddish, or even funny but has a feel of the loud background music of opening credits of movies which used to come 20 years back. It has been sung by Kunal Ganjawala, Meenal Jain and Suzanne, though some way down in the song you can feel the instruments working more than any of the voices. It has been written by Nakul M.

Another strangely titled song ’so cool’ is neither cool and definitely not ’so-so’ enough to make you even think as to what might happen to this non-descript song. The song might not find much takers. It has been written by yet another lyricist Rahul Seth and has been sung by talented voices of Kunal Ganjawala and Suzanne. The song falters with the attempt to give it a western look without caring much for novelty or the fresh aspect.

And finally in the song ‘dhan tan tan’ (were they trying hard to actually make the song titles seem more wierd?) which has been written by Swanand Kirkire who had charted out quite some good ones in movies like Parineeta and Lage Raho Munnabhai. This song is once again very high on the instrumental aspect as if they were trying to showcase all the orchestral talent that they could have mustered up.

Overall they have come up with an album which has nothing much to offer and might be gone with the wind in no time.
