And here is some information on another of the sports themed movie which is coming from the bollywood stable this year. We are talking about John Abraham and Bipasha Basu starrer Goal which will also star Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani playing key characters.

The film which marks the return of one of the hottest couples of Indian film industry, that is John and Bipasha, has been in the news alongside Chak De India, because these two movies were being held responsible for probably starting the trend of new sports based movies. A few others were announced but are yet to take off. The movie was showcased at this year’s Cannes Film Festival along with Ashutosh Gowariker’s period epic Jodha-Akbar, starring Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan. In the movie, John plays the role of Sunny Bhasin, a UK born Indian who plays for a Southall football club. It is being described as a sports action drama based on an Asian soccer league team.

The film has been extensively and entirely shot in UK. And this is the second time that Bipasha will be playing the role of a Muslim girl, that too a Pakistani one. The first time she did that was in the movie opposite her former boyfriend Dino Morea, called Ishq Hai Tumse. Except the songs of the movie, nothing worked. John and Bipasha were seen three years back in the dud called Madhoshi in which John played an obsessive lover and Amitabh Bachchan plays an obsessive dad, both to Bipasha. Bipasha has gone on to say that her chemistry with John in this movie is ‘completely different’. She says that her character will stand out in this movie even though the theme is centred on what else but football. The movie’s theatrical trailers are expected to hit the silver screen along with Chak De India’s release, but there is some time left before we get to see whether this movie will be able to score a goal at the BO.
