Gulzar Saab is the finest available poet in the industry. He has penned the lyrics for innumerable song. The latest one that comes to mind is Kajrare from the movie Bunty And Babli. The poet is known for his choice of words and beautiful lyrics that have a meaning somewhere deep down in the words. He is known to work on his own terms though and has been in a part of controversy a few times due to the choice of his words.

He has said that he walked out of the movie Billo Barber after writing three songs. He says that he was being asked to add some specific words in lyrics by music director Pritam to which he refused. He says that he does not like his lyrics to be tampered with or changed. After the refusal he was visited a few times by Shahrukh himself but he says that he had to turn the actor down. It has been reported that the song was Love Mera Hit Hit and Shahrukh himself had come up with the words that had to be incorporated in the lyrics.

Gulzar Saab and Shahrukh go back a long way. They have had a fair share of controversies to go through. There was a controversy created after they used the word Tabeez in a song in Dil Se. More recently, people were not happy after they used the word Hazur in a song in Billo barber saying that they were referring to prophet realized. They apologized saying that they did not intend to hurt the feeling of anyone.

There was a section of people having the opinion that the word chaddhi in the title song of Jungle Book was vulgar. The lyricist has seen success, praise and criticism and now is longer fazed by it.
