Rajkumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol raises an issue bearing an uncanny resemblance to the Jessica Lal murder case. And like his earlier films this time too Santoshi has succeeded in stirring and pricking your conscience. After Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak, Santhosi is back in his old avatar with a film raising some burning issues including casting couch, misuse of political power and the life of a common man in today’s world.

Halla Bol is a hard hitting typical Rajkumar Santoshi’s product starring some brilliant actors of bollywood. The movie stars Ajay Devgan in lead with Vidya Balan, Pankaj Kapoor again in a dynamic role and Darshan Zariwala in a negative role. Halla Bol is a movie that reflects the current times of our country.

The story of the movie is about Ashfaq (Ajay Devgan), who is a small-town boy doing parts in Nukkad-Natak and aspiring to become a superstar in the bollywood industry. Sidhu (Pankaj Kapur), a once time dacoit is running the street theatre as a medium to bring awakeness in the masses. Finally Ashfaq get his first break and enter into the bollywood industry as Samir Khan. Within no time he becomes heartthrob of masses and the superstar of bollywood industry.

But after getting success he slowly started to lose his own identity. Corruption takes over him and alienate him from all his loved ones including his wife Sneha (Vidya Balan) after she caught him getting physical with one actress. But a shocking incident at a night party totally changes Samir Khan’s life.

The movie actually tells that corruption has become a integral part of our everyday life. Santoshi has created some clapworthing sequences in the movie including the one when Ajay urinates in the house of the minister and the one in which Pankaj Kapoor reply after corrupt person (Abhay Bhargava) try to bribe him.

Talking about performances, once again Pankaj Kapoor is awesome in his role with Ajay giving a award worthing power packed performance. Vidya Balan has done her role beautifully. Darshan Zariwala and other actors are just okay-okay. The film has also host some of bollywood stars for small appearances including Tushar Kapoor, Jackie Shrauff, Sridevi and her husband Boney Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor.
