Punjabi singer Hansraj Hans was born in Shafipur village near Jalandhar. He is well known singer who had learned to sing from Puran Shahkoti Sahib. His guru gave him the surname ‘Hans‘. Recently he was awarded the fourth highest civilian award of Padam Shree Award for arts, India. Hansraj Hans is famous for his long curly hair which he used to shake while singing.

He has worked with some other renowned artists as well such as the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in the movie Kachhe Dhaage. His intricate musical compositions and choice of lyrics has a universal appeal. He is also an ‘A’ Grade All India Radio (AIR) artist. He was specially honoured by prime minister of Pakistan in the year 1997 after his superhit concert at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
