The year 2009 will start on a high note with two big budget movies like “Luck by Chance” and “Chandini Chowk to China” going to release in January. A comedy action flick, “Chandini Chowk to China”, starring Deepika Padukone and Akshay Kumar is set to release on 16th January. The movie is produced by Rohan Sippy and Warner Brothers, Hollywood studio and is about a cook from India (Chandini Chowk) who is mistaken as a reincarnated ancient peasant warrior by oppressed Chinese villagers.

On the other hand “Luck by Chance”, starring Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Hrithik Roshan and Dimple Kapadia is going to release on 30th January. The movie is the directorial debut of Farhan’s sister, Zoya Akhtar. The plot centers around Bollywood and to those people who come from different spheres of life to the film city to fulfill their dreams of becoming a successful actor in the industry where luck matters more than hard work.

Shah Rukh’s “Biloo Barber”, which also stars Irfan Kahn and Lara Dutta, will hit the screen in March 2009. King Khan’s “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” was a huge hit.

“Sikander”, traversing lesser-explored territories, is a movie which deals with innocence loss in strife-torn Kashmir. The director of the movie is Piyush Jha and the producer of the movie is Sudhir Mishra. The cast of the film include R.Madhavan and Sanjay Suri. The film will be produced, distributed and marketed by Big Pictures. Other movies under the belt of Big Pictures are “Mirch” by Vinay Shukla, “13 B” by Vikram, “Chaalu Movie” by Vinod Pande and “Luck By Chance” by Zoya Akhtar.

Among the regional films, Shahji Karun’s “Kutty Srank” (Malayalam film), MS Sathyu’s “ijjodu” (Kannada film) and Rituparno Ghosh’s “Abohomann” and “Kalponik” (Bengali films) are going to release this year.
