Yesteryear hit film, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, written and directed by Dev Anand was released in the year 1972. The movie starred Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman in lead roles while Mumtaz and Prem Chopra also played important roles in the movie. The music of the film was composed by Rahul Dev Burman and the songs were sung by Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle and Usha Iyer. Singer Asha Bhosle won Filmfare Best Female Playback Award for the song ‘ Dum Maro Dum ‘ picturised on Zeenat Aman, which rpoved out to be a huge hit at that time.

The movie starts with, Prashant Jaiswal ( Dev Anand ), who is in search of her sister Jasbir ( Zeenat ). They have a good relationship as children but when they seperated because of their parent’s divorce, they hardly stayed connected with each other. Jasbir is told by her father that her mother and brother are dead. She is ill-treated by her step mother and for that reason she runs away from home.

Prashant, who is now a pilot, learns that Jasbir is in Kathmandu. He travels to Kathmandu to meet Jasbir and bring her back. There he meets Shanti ( Mumtaz ) with whom he later get married also. He finds out that Jasbir is now living with a new identity and name, Janice. Because of the effect of extra use of Drugs, she has also forgotten her childhood and Prashant too. But Prashant finally manages to convince her that, he is her brother.
