Madhuri Dixit was born on May 15, 1967 in Mumbai, India. She started her acting career with 1984 released Abodh. But she actually shot to stardum with 1988 released Tezaab in which she was seen opposite Anil Kapoor. The song Ek do teen char paanch che saath aath nau dus picturised on Madhuri became a big hit at that time. She dominated the bollywood industry with the series of hit films such as Ram Lakhan, Tridev, Dil, Saajan, Beta etc. She also won her first Filmfare Best Actress Award for her brilliant performance in the movie Dil.

She was named as Dhak Dhak girl after her seductive dance performance on Dhak dhak karne laga mora jiyera darne laga from the movie Beta. She kept on giving many hit films in the form of Khalnayak, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun etc. She won her fourth Filfare Best Actress Award for Yash Chopra’s musical hit Dil To Pagal Hai in which she starred opposite none other than King Shahrukh Khan. She once again gave a splendid performance in Prakash Jha’s Mrityudand.

In year 2002 she made a comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s superhit film Devdas. She was seen opposite Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the film. She did second lead in the film and her performance earned her a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. She made her second comeback in year 2007 with Aaja Nachle but this time she failed to impress audience as well as critics with her performance in the film. She was recently awarded the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India.
