Yesteryear hit movie, Aandhi, directed by Gulzar was released in the year 1975. The movie starred Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen in lead roles while Om Prakash and A.K.Hangal also played important roles in the film. The superhit music of the film was given by R.D. Burman and the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Amit Kumar and Bhupinder. The movie was highly inspired by the life prime minister, Indira Gandhi. The movie performed well at the box office and won several acclaims by audiences.

The movie starts with Aarti Devi ( Suchitra sen ), who is a daughter of a politician. Aarti falls in love with a guy J.K. ( Sanjeev Kumar ), who is a manager in a hotel by profession. After having a long affair they finally get married to each other. But the real trouble begins post marriage, when Aarti starts assisting her father in his political dealings. With the passage of time, she gets more engrossed in politics and starts neglecting her famil which now includes her daughter also. Fianllt Aarti and J.K. decides to get seperated and they removes all the contacts from each other.

But after few years, they get a chance to meet which rekindles the past. They once again starts meeting each other. This results in several bad rumours about their relationship as the people are not aware of their relationship. The opposition party starts using this issue in the crucial elections. Finally, J.K. comes to her rescue and reveals their real relationship in a public meeting which results in Aarti’s win.
