Bollywood romantic suspense thriller, Aarzoo, directed by Lawrence D’Souza and written by Reema Rakeshnath was released on March 19, 1999. The movie starred Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles while Paresh Rawal, Amrish Puri, Mohan Joshi, Baby Gazla, Arun Kumar, Vikas Anand, Yunus Parwez and Anil Nagrath also played important characters in the film. the superhit music of the film was given by none other than famous music director duo Anu Malik and Surendra Singh Sodhi while the songs were rendered by Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik etc. The movie did average business at the box office.

Vijay Khanna ( Akshay Kumar ) is an Airforce pilot by profession and is in love with a beautiful girl named Pooja ( Madhuri Dixit ). Pooja is the daughter of a wealthy businesssman named Dayashankar ( Amrish Puri ). Pooja is the apple of his father’s eye. Dayashankar wants Pooja to marry her childhood friend Aman ( Saif Ali Khan ). Aman is also in love with Pooja but do not have the courage to tell her about this. However Pooja has fallen in love with Vijay. Pooja introduce Vijay to her father and express her wish to marry him. Dayashankar first opposes to their marraige but later convinced by Aman for it.

Vijay and Pooja get married to each other. But unfortunately Vijay dies in a plane crash. On the other hand, Pooja learns that she is pregnant with Vijay’s child. Dayashankar convinces her to marry Aman. Aman and Pooja get married and soon Pooja starts falling in love with Aman. But to her utter shock, she learns that Vijay is still alive. She also reveals that Vijay was planned to murder by someone and the plane crash was not just an accident but a plan to kill Vijay. Who is behind that dangerous plan of Vijay’s murder?
