Pradeep Kumar and Nargis starrer suspense action thriller, Adalat, was released in the year 1958. The movie was directed by Kalidas and was released under the banner of Kwatra Films. The other starcast of the movie includes Pran, Minoo Mumtaz, Achala sachdeva, Rashid Khan, Jawahar Kaul, Pratima devi and Murad in important roles. The hit evergreen music of the movie was directed by the legendary music director Madan Mohan while the songs were beautifully crooned by Mohammed Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with a beautiful girl named Nirmala ( Nargis ), who is living alongwith her mother, maternal uncle and his wife. She is studying in an art college. She come across a young and handsome guy named Rajinder Singh ( Pradeep Kumar ) and get attracted towards him. Soon they both falls in love with each other and decides to get married. But the problem is that Nirmala’s aunt wants her to get married with an uneducated villager of her choice. But Nirmala refuse to get married with such a person. Nirmala completes her education and gets the job of a teacher in Sada bahar Nrutya Vidyalaya. But she get shcoked when reveals that the Sada Bahar Vidyalaya is actually a brothel.

Nirmala is arrested by police but soon released. She goes to her house but is thrown out from there. Her mother passes away. A pimp named Pandit Kedarnath ( Pran ) offfers to get married with her but she refuses. She then starts working as a governess in a house. But she get shcoked again when she reveals that the house belongs to Rajinder. Rajinder and Nirmala secretly get married. What to happen next?
