The musical romantic movie Amar Deep was released on May 18, 1979. K Balajee produced while K Vijayan and R Krishnamurti directed the movie. Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Mehra and Shabana Azmi enacted the key roles in the movie while Deven Verma, Bindu, Ashok Kumar and Mithun Chakraborty played the supporting roles. Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Anuradha Paudwal sang the songs of the movie and Laxmikant Pyarelal gave the music for the movie.

Raja ( Rajesh Khanna ) is the adopted son of criminal don ( Ashok Kumar ).After the death of the don , Raja is the only inherent of his property and belongings. By gaining authority and wealth, he becomes proud and arrogant. He was attracted towards Radha ( Shabana Azmi ), the daughter of his servant, Ramu ( A K Hangal ).When he asked for Radha’s hand,Ramukaka happily agreed .However ,Radha resisted to marry Raja as she was in love with a young man, Kishan ( Vinod Mehra ).Disappointed by Radha’s refusal, Raja becomes infuriated and conspires against Kishan.

Raja begins to follow Radha and discovers that the lovers used to meet on the sly. Raja informed Ramukaka about this and he banned her from meeting Kishan. Soon, Raja discovers a secret about secret from Kishan and approaches him. He arranges imprudent wedding ceremony for Kishan with Radha. Kishan feels highly obliged towards Raja. Slowly, Raja appoints him for more responsible and hectic job. It becomes late enough for Kishan to realize Raja’s trick of parting the two lovers.
