Yesteryear blockbuster hit, Anand, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee was released in the year 1971. The movie starred Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan and Sumita Sanyal in lead roles. The superhit music of the film was given by Salil Choudhary. The lyrics of the film were written by Gulzar sahab. Initially Kishore Kumar and Mehmood were supposed to play the lead roles in the film but due to some misunderstanding between them, the new actors Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan were signed up for the film. Rajesh Khanna won the Filmfare Best Actor award for his performance while Amitabh Bachchan also received Filmfare Best Suppoting Actor Award for his brilliant act in the movie. The film also won the Filmfare Best Story Award and Filmfare Best Movie Award.

The movie starst with a guy, Anand Sehgal ( Rajesh Khanna ), who is a cancer patient. Despite knowing this fact, Anand wants to live his life to the fullest. On the other hand, a completely different personality, Bhaskar Banarjee ( Amitabh Bachchan ), who is a doctor by profession is asked to take the case of Anand by his doctor. He is in love with a girl, Renu ( Sumita Sanyal ). Dr. Bhaskar, himself, is upset with his life. But after Anand’s arrival in his life, he sees all the things turning otherway postive. Anand shows him the true life of colours. But after spreading happiness in Dr. Bhaskar’s life, Anand get died. But his loving memories inspires Bhaskar to write a book on his life.
