Former bollywood actress, Asha Parekh, was born on October 2, 1942 in Bangalore, India. She belongs to a Gujrati family. Asha learned and excelled Indian Classical dance at a very young age. She has acted in over 50 films. She started her acting career as a child artist in 1952 released Aasman. She made her debut as a lead heroine at an age of sixteen with Goonj Uthi Shehnai. Her first big hit came in the form of Shammi Kapoor starrer romantic film Dil Deke Dekho. The director of the film was quite impressed by her work in the film and therefore casted her in his next six films also including the three hit films titled Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Teesri Manzil and Caravan.

After giving a series of flop films she starred in two hit movies titled Do Badan and Pagla Kahin Ka. But her next big hit came in the form of Rajesh Khanna starrer Kati Patang. She also won her first Filmfare Best Actress Award for her excellent performance in the movie. Her pair up with Rajesh Khanna in the film was highly appreciated by the people. She worked alongwith Rajesh Khanna in an another hit movie titled Aan Milo Sajna.

The last film in which she worked was 1995 released Andolan. Later she also produced some television programmes like Baaje Payal, Kora Kagaz etc. She also hold the credit of being the first female chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification ( Censor Board ) of India. She also received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2002.
