Bollywood movie, Badal, written and directed by Raj Kanwar was released on February 11, 2000. The movie starred Bobby Deol and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles while Amrish Puri, Mayuri Kango, Ashutosh Rana and Sana Saeed also played important roles in the film. The superhit music of the film was given by Anu Malik and the songs were sung by Anuradha Paudwal, Sukhwindher Singh, Jaspinder Narula, Sonu Nigam, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Udit Narayan and Sapna Awasthi. The movie is supposed to be inspired from Brad Pitt starrer The Devil’s Own.

The movie starts with a terrorist, Mantavir ( Aashish Vidyarthi ), who takes shelter in Badal’s house. Badal’s father ( Alok Nath ) treats him like his brother. When the police arrive in the village in search of Mantavir, Badal’s father tells him to run away. However, this results in the death of the villagers by Police Inspector Jai Singh Rana ( Ashutosh Rana ). Badal ( Bobby Deol ), who witness the dreadly killing by Jai Singh, is somehow saved by Mantavir. Now, Badal has only one target in life, that is to kill Jai Singh Rana.

With the passage of time, he becomes a dreaded terrorist. He is asked to take the looted money from a bank to Sundar Nagar. There he comes into contact with a good police officer, ACP Ranjeet Singh ( Amrish Puri ). He bring him at his home. Ranjeet Singh’s elder daughter, Soni ( Mayuri Kango ) makes Badal, her brother. The family showers him with love. He also meets a girl named Rani ( Rani Mukherjee), who falls in love with him. Then he meets his enemy, Jai Singh Rana, who is now a DIG. How Badal manages to take revenge from Jai Singh? Whether he would be accepted by Ranjeet Singh and his family again after revealing his true indentity?
