The adventurous, romantic movie Betaabi was released on September 5, 1997 under the banner of S P Creations. The movie was directed by Harry Baweja and Rajesh Singh and was produced by Pammi Baweja. The lead roles were played by Chandrachur Singh, Arshad Warsi, Anjala Zaveeri and Mayuri Kango while other important roles were played by Gulshan Grover, Shakti Kapoor and Shadaab Khan. The music was given by Vishal Bhardwaj and the singers were Kavita Krishanamurthy, Kumar Sanu and Asha Bhosle.

In the movie Ajmera’s ( Shakti Kapoor ) daughter Sheena ( Anjala Zaveri ) plays the role of a very stubborn and fearless girl. Sameer ( Chandrachur Singh ) fells in love with her. Sameer was actually Ajmera’s friend’s son. Sheena’s and Sameer‘s marriage was fixed during childhood but as Ajmera became rich he denied the poor Sameer and wanted a rich son in law. Sheena challenges Sameer if he can kidnap her and take her to Gateway of India she will marry him.

Brij Mohan ( Gulshan Grover ) was cheated in business by Ajmera so he planned revenge. He sent Sameer ( Arshad Warsi ) as a rich man to impress Sheena, marry her and handover her to Brij so that he can blackmail Ajmera.  This Sameer was challenged if he could stop her from being taken to Gateway of India she will marry him. Thus, it’s an Interesting story with both Sameer’s after Sheena. The movie also has some hilarious moments.
