Hit songs of Bhopal Express


The social drama Bhopal Express was released on December 2, 1999. The movie was directed by Mahesh Mathai and produced by Deepak Nayyar and Tabrez. The lead roles in the movie were played by Naseruddin Shah, Nethra Raghuraman, Kay Kay Menon and Zeenat Aman while Vijay Raaz was also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and the songs were sung by Sagarika, Jagjit Singh, Lucky Ali, Ila Arun, Amitabh Bachchan and Shankar Mahadevan.

Bhopal Express was directed by Mahesh Mathai, an ad film maker who turned movie director with this movie. The theme of the movie is about the Bhopal Gas Tragedy that claimed the life of around 6000 people while for the tens of thousand, the after effects were huge. The real life incidents are depicted in the film through two main characters, a newly wed pair of Verma and Tara and Bashir who is a former Union Carbide employee. The movie starts when a leak of gas is found at the plant while the staff was missing from their service.

Verma ( Kay Kay ) works for Union Carbide and is a newly wed husband of Tara ( Nethra Raghuraman ). Bashir ( Naseeruddin Shah ) is a former employee who now runs auto rickshaw. In absence of his wife Tara, Verma and his friend go to Zohrabai’s ( Zeenat Aman ) place for some enjoyment. When they came out they were shocked to see people running here and there for their lives. Over 40 tonnes of toxic gas has been spread over Bhopal. The toxic gas claims the life of the several innocent people.
