The famous film Chak De India was released on August 10, 2007 and was bannered under Yash Raj Films. The thriller sports movie was directed by Shimit Amin and was produced by Aditya Chopra. The lead actors in the film were Shahrukh Khan, Sagarika Ghatge, Tanya Abrol, Vidya Malvade, Anaitha Nair, Chitrashi Rawat, Shilpa Shukla and Shubhi Mehta while important roles were also played by Anjan Srivastava, Javed Khan and Vibha Chibbar. The music was directed by Salim and Sulaiman Merchant and the songs were sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Salim Merchant, Shahrukh Khan, Anushka Manchandani, K K and Krishna.

Chak De India is a sports movie based on our National sport Hockey which is in dismal state at present. Cricket is being given the top prioriy and Hockey is neglected by everyone. This film is able to raise the status of Hockey and especially Women’s Hockey to be precise. The story of the film revolves around Kabir Khan ( Shahrukh Khan ) who was the once the hero of the Indian Hockey Team. Playing as the best center forward in the world he saw the rise and the fall of his self. Preeti Sabarwal ( Sagarika Ghatge ) was the center forward and also the captain of the Chandigarh team. Komal Chautala ( Chitrashi Rawat ), girl from Haryana played from right in postion, had a boyish attitude and was extremely quick.

The state of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team was in a sad state and needed someone to raise it. Kabir Khan, the ex Indian captain came forward to become the coachof a team whose almost all players were out of touch of the game. The girls had forgotten all the basics about the game. But Kabir Khan wanted to make India win the next Hockey world cup and prove his love for the country. He taught the girls every basic thing and also worked extremely hard with them. He was successful in uniting the team.
