Bollywood musical romantic flcik, Chalte Chalte, written and directed by Sunder Dar was released in the year 1976. The movie starred Vishal Anand and Simi Grewal in lead roles while Dinesh Hingoo, Nazneen, Ratan Gaurang, Jagdish Raj, Asha lata, Shreeram lagoo and Jankidas also played significant characters in the film. The evergreen melodious music of the movie was composed by the noen other than ace music director Bappi lahiri while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Shailendra Singh, Lata Mangeshkar, Sulakshana Pandit etc.

The movie starts with young and beautiful, Geeta ( Simi Grewal ), who is in love with a guy named Ravi Kapoor ( Vishal Anand ) and wants to get married with him. But before that could happen, Geeta gets the news that Ravi has met with an accident and is now no more alive. Geeta gets devastated with this news. She looses her mental balance and is then admitted in a mental hospital. After several years, she recovers from her mental state and is discharged from the hospital. She once again enters in the real world and gets a big shock after seeeing Ravi alive.

She reveals that Ravi is still alive and is now in love with a beautiful girl named Asha ( Nazneen ). Geeta decides to make Ravi fall in love with her once again but fails. She tries to seperate Asha from him but once again fails to get succeed in her intentions. As a result of continuous failure, Geeta once again looses her mental balance and is admitted to the mental hospital. Ravi and Asha get married with each other. Ravi then leaves for abroad for some work. It is then Geeta escapes from the hospital and goes to kill Asha.
