Bollywood comic action drama, Dhongee, directed by Ashok Roy was released on May 4, 1979. The movie starred Randhir Kapoor and Neetu Singh in lead roles while Sujit Kumar, Satyendra Kapoor, Prem Nath, Farida Jalal, Leena Das, Rakesh Roshan, Asrani, Rajan Haksar and Raj Mehra also played significant roles in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was composed by the veteran music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Anand Bakshi and Asha Bhonsle.

The movie starts with a young and handsome guy named Anand ( Randhir Kapoor ), who meets with a beautiful girl named Neelima ( Neetu Singh ) and instantly falls in love with her. He tries to woo her but fails as she doesn’t pay much attention towards him. Problem starts when Anand finds himself framed in a crime activity which is actually performed by a deadly criminal named Mr. John Lord ( Prem Nath ). Anand is asked to pay a huge amount of money for getting himself out of this crime activity.

Anand then takes a new identity and pretends to be a rich businessman named Mr. Chimpaklal. He targets another businessman named Ravi Kahnna ( Sujit Khanna ) to arrange the required money to get himself out of the case. But he get shocked to reveal that Ravi is the brother of none other than, Neelima. What will he do now? What to happen next?
