Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol was released nationwide on October 20, 1995. Amrish Puri and Farida Jalal were also seen in important roles in this romanctic film. The film is also termed as the first bollywood film to feature Indians living outside India.

The story of the movie is based on the love story of Raj ( Shahrukh Khan ) and Simran ( Kajol ) residing in the beautifull city London. Raj is a spoiled son of a rich father ( Anupam Kher ). On the other hand, Simran is a the daughter of typical Indian father played by Amrish Puri. Simran’s father has only one dream that one day he will go back to his country. However, Simran is more influenced by her loving mother ( Farida Jalal ).

Amrish Puri has arranged Simran’s wedding with his best friend’s son Kuljeet in India, who is totally unknown to her. But still she agrees to marry him only for her father’s desire. Simran managed to convince her dad to go on a trip to Europe with her friends. During that trip Simran and Raj fall in love with each other. But when she returned home she found that her family is planning to return to Punjab. Raj follows Simran to Punjab and tries to convince her dad for their marriage in his own unique way. Rest of the story is about his various plans to attract Simran’s father attention towards him. At last he managed to get succeed in his ambition and Simran’s father finally allows her daughter to go with Raj.
