Bollywood musical comedy drama, Disha, written and directed by Sai Paranjape was released in the year 1990. The movie starred Nana Patekar and Shabana Azmi in lead roles while Om Puri, Vijay Parulkar, Raghuvir Yadav, Nilu Phule, Rajshree Sawant, Prashant Subhedar, Sayaji Shinde, Anil Bhagwat and Shivkumar Divekar also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was composed by Anand Modak while the songs were crooned by Narinder Singh etc.

Parsaram ( Om Puri ) is famous by the name of Pagal Parsa as he has been involved in digging a well from several years. His family consists of his wife, Hansa ( Shabana Azmi ), his brother, Soma ( Raghuvir Yadav ) and four children. Vasant Mandre ( Nana Patekar ) is the neighbour of Parsaram. Vasant has recently got married to a women named Phoolwati ( Rajshree Sawant ). Soma decides to re locate to the city so that he can arrange the sufficient money for making a good life for his family.

After him, Vasant also leaves for the city. Vasant and Soma starts working together in the city and sends money to their respective families. Phholmati then decides to visit the city but she get shocked when she reveals that Vasant and Soma are sharing a room with 40 other peoples. She reveals that they all are working in a mill on a very less income.
