Bollywood action thriller, Elaan, directed by Guddu Dhanoa was released on January 21,1994. The movie starred Akshay Kumar and Madhoo in lead roles while Amrish Puri, Dalip Tahil, Rami Reddy, Mohan Joshi, Farida Jalal, Deven Verma, Mohnish Behl and Sulabha Arya also played important roles in the film. the music of the film was given by the music director duo Shyam-Sunder while the songs were rendered by Kumar Sanu, Vinod Rathod, Sadhana Sargam, Lata Mangeshkar and Poornima. The movie managed to do average business at the box office.

The movie starts with Assistant Police Commissioner, Ramakant Chaudhary ( Amrish Puri ) who is living a happy life with his wife and son, Vishal Chaudhary ( Akshay Kumar ). Ramakant is an honest officer unlike his seniors. Ramakant’s elder son, who was a doctor, was killed by some criminals who are still unknown for him. His son, Vishal is a short tempered guy and often get involved in fights with goons or criminal. Vishal witness a murder and recognizes the killer but his father disbelieves him and refuses to arrest the killer.

However, later he decides to arrest the killer but he manages to escape from there. Ramakant stands against the criminal don, Baba Khan ( Mohan Joshi ) and his fellow men, Anna ( Rami Reddy ). Khan frames Rmakant in a murder case and also prove him a mental pateint in front of court. When Ramakant’s senior officer gives the statement against him in the court, Vishal betas him up there in front of the Judge. Ramakant is sent to mental hospital and Vishal is arrested by police in charge of beating a police officer. Vishal then does’ Elaan’ of his fight against all the criminals of the city.
