Farz Ki Jung was an action cum family drama released on March 17, 1989. The movie was directed by R P Swamy and produced by Dalwinder Sohal. The key roles in the movie were enacted by Govinda, Shashi Kapoor, Neelam Kothari and Dalwinder while the supporting roles were played by Raza Murad, Amrish Puri, Anjana Mumtaz, Bob Christo, Leena Das, Iftekhar, Pinchoo Kapoor, Mac Mohan and Asha Lata. The music of the film was directed by Bappi Lahiri.

Farz Ki Jung was a family movie with the hints of action at good amount of time. The story of the movie revolved mostly around an honest, true and simple Police Inspector Vikram ( Shashi Kapoor ). The twist in the story comes when this hard working and honest police inspector is arrested by the police team in charge of possession of drugs which is an international crime. Vikram’s mother ( Asha Lata ) was not able to bear this news and passes away instantly.

The story has more turns to it as Vikram is tried in court, convicted, and sentenced to prison for several years. From his experiences what he learnt was that honest does not pay and it is foolish to become an honest officer in this corrupt world. so in prison he acquires knowledge and skills to become a career criminal. This thing makes him stand against his own brother Inspector Amar ( Dalwinder ) who is also an honest and true police officer.
