Bollywood crime thriller, Ghaath, directed by Akashdeep and written by Neeraj Pathak was released on December 1, 2000. The movie starred Manoj Bajpai and Tabu in lead roles while Mukesh Tiwari, Om Puri, Raveena tandon, Anupam Kher, Arshad Warsi, Irfan Khan, Sachin Khedekar, Vishwjeet Pradhan, Sheeba and Makrand Deshpande also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by Anu Malik and music director duo Salim-Suleman Merchant in collaboration while the songs were rendered by Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Shantanu Mukherjee, Hariharan, Shabbir Kumar, Jaspinder Narula etc.

Krishna Patil ( Manoj Bajpai ) is under training to be a police inspector. He come across the underworld don, Romesh Bhagwat Dogra aka Mamu ( Irrfan Khan ) and enters his name in the bad book of Mamu. Mamu ensures that Krishna fails in the police training. Krishna gets into a fight with a corrupt police inspector named Ishwar Mohanlal Godbole ( Mukesh Tiwari ) and ends up beating him badly. Krishna’s father Ramakant patil ( Anupam Kher ) then begs to Mohanlal to forgive his son and even offers him bribe. Mohanlal then leaves Krishna but beats his two friends.

He then arrests his two friends on the false charges. Krishna then takes help of a police officer named Ajay Pandey ( Om Puri ) and a lawyer named Kavita Chaudhary ( Tabu ) to ensure that his friends get release from the jail. Krishna’s life gets upturned when he decides to stand against Mamu after the death of his siter, Mansi and her husband. Little does he knows is that his decision of killing Mamu will change his life forever.
