Gupt was an action thriller released on July 4, 1997 under the banner of Trimurti Films Pvt. Ltd. The movie was directed by Rajiv Rai and Naseem Shah and the producers of the movie were Gulshan Rai and Rajeev Rai. The main roles in the movie were played by Bobby Deol, Kajol and Manisha Koirala and some good roles were played by Paresh Rawal, Raj Babbar and Om Puri. The music director of the movie was Viju Shah and the singers were Udit Narayan, Sunita Rao, Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu.

Sahil Sinha ( Bobby Deol ) dislikes his father Jaisingh Sinha ( Raj Babbar ) and always thought of him as a hindrance in his path. Jaisingh was against his son’s marriage with Isha ( Kajol ) whom Sahil is in love with and fixes his marriage with Sheetal Choudhry ( Manisha Koirala ). All this makes Sahil furious and he tries attack his father with a knife. The next day, his father got killed with the same knife and Sahil is sent to jail for lifetime imprisonment.

Sahil manages to escape and decides to trace the real killer. All those who proved Sahil as his father’s killer are killed one by one and again all the evidences turn against him. Udham Singh ( Om Puri ) wants to arrest Sahil at any cost. In the course of his search of the real killer Sheetal helps him a lot. The mystery, gets more confusing, and at the end Isha ( Kajol ) is revealed as the killer. The suspense element in the movie is presented in a beautiful way.
