The movie Gurudev was a romantic drama released on September 3, 1993 under the banner of V M Prod. The movie was directed and produced by Vinod Mehra. The lead roles in the movie were played by Rishi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Danny Denzongpa and some appreciable roles were played by Asrani, Kader Khan and Kiran Kumar. The music of the movie was given by R D Burman and the lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and Sameer. The songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, R D Burman and Amit Kumar.

The movie is a simple friendship tale with love and suspense. In the movie Inspector Dev Kumar ( Rishi Kapoor ) and Guru ( Anil Kapoor ) were best friends. They had a very healthy relationship. Dev’s dad ( Satyen Kappu ) was a criminal and he used to work for none other than Guru’s dad Khakan, who was the underworld don. To wipe off the increased terror, police were now more watchful and harsh on criminals.

Inspector Khan ( Kader Khan ) was given the responsibility to arrest the don. He first took into suspicion Dev whose dad was also involved in all this. Now Dev must prove his loyalty to his duty by arresting his dad and his best friend’s dad too. Sridevi has played a very good role in the movie as Sunita and Kavita. Action sequences in the movie were also good. In the end as in all Hindi movies truth wins over evil and Dev is honored. The director has done good work and locations were really nice.
