The comedy and family flick Hamari Bahu Alka was released in the year of 1982. The movie was directed by Basu Chatterjee and Kamal Saigal while it was produced by Shyam Sunder Sekasaria. The major roles in the movie were played by Bindiya Goswami, Utpal Dutt, Asrani and Prema Narayan while the supporting roles were played by Rakesh Roshan, Master Raju, Manik Dutt, Jay Shree T and Meena T. The music of the film was directed by Rajesh Roshan while the songs were sung by Amit Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar, Shailendra Singh and Pinaz Masani.

The movie Hamari Bahu Alka was a family flick that revolved mostly round a man named Pratapchand ( Rakesh Roshan ) alias Pratap who is a college going student. He lives with his family consisting of his father Badriprasad ( Utpal Dutt ) who is a contractor by profession, his mother who is a housewife and a younger brother named Ramu. Badriprasad was always angry on his elder son Pratap and there would have been no day till date when he has not scolded him.

The movie takes a turn when one day Pratap’s friend named Sunil ( Asrani ) gets married to Sudha ( Prema Narayan ), this was the day when his father also fixes up his marriage to a village girl named Alka ( Bindiya Goswami ). Initially Pratap did not like her at all but slowly and after the marriage, he found her beautiful and the two people fell in love with each other. Both wanted to pass time with each other but the problem was that Pratap had his exams coming soon and was required to study.
