Biswajeet and Mala Sinha starrer action crime drama, Jaal, was released in the year 1967. The movie was directed by Moni Bhattacharya and written by Dhruva Bhattacharya. The other starcast of the movie includes Jagdish Raj, Sujit Kumar, Johnny Walker, Tarun Bose, Asit Sen, Helen and Nirupa Roy in important roles. The evergreen hit music of the movie was given by the hit eveteran music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Shankar ( Biswajeet ) is an honest and brave police officer by profession. He is assigned the case of the mysterious death of Sunder Singh ( Sujit Kumar ). He starts his investigation. His investigation brings him to a beautiful rich heiress named Sheila ( Mala Sinha ). Sheila has an impaired memory and is being looke after by the aunt of Sunder Singh. After some meetings, Shankar falls in love with Sheila. Sheila too get attracted towards him.

Sheila then tells Shankar about a scarred faced man, who is trying to haunt her. Shankar conslose her that he will find out about the matter. Shankar believes that Sheila’s haunting problem and Sunder’s death is related to each other. Shankar then gets a clue to unravel the truth. But Shankar get shocked to learn the truth behind Sunder’s death, which was actually a preplanned murder.
