Former bollywood actress, Jaya Prada, was born as Lalita Rani on April 3, 1962 in Andhra Pradesh, India. She is married to Srikant Nahata. Jaya was enrolled in dance and music classes at a very young age. She made her Hindi film debut with Sargam opposite Rishi Kapoor. The movie was actually the remake of her hit Tamil film titled Siri Siri Muvva. The movie did well at the box office and Jaya became an overnight star of bollywood industry.

Her next film titled Kaamchor in which she was paired opposite Rakesh Roshan also did well at the box office. She was then seen opposite Amitabh Bachchan in another hit movie titled Sharaabi for which she won a Filmfare Nomination for Best Actress Award. After that she delievered few flop films such as Haqeeqat, Patal Bahiravi, Zabardast etc. She then played a double role in a semi hit film titled Sanjog.

She also kept working in south films besides bollywood flicks. She made hit pairs with Jeetendra and Amitabh Bachchan. She gave several hit films with these two actors. She portrayed typical Indian house wife in several films such as Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani, Gharana etc. She played supporting roles in the films like Kohram, Khakee and Tathastu. Her last released bollywood flick was Dasavatharam.
