Sunil Dutt and Vyjayanthimala starrer family drama flick, Jhoola, was released in the year 1962. The movie was directed by K. Shankar. The other starcast of the movie includes Mohan Choti, Sulochana Latkar, Rajendra Nath, Randhir, Manmohan Krishna, Indira Bansal, Raj mehra, Leela Mishra and Achala Sachdev in significant characters. The hit evergreen music of the movie was composed by the veteran music director Salil Chaudhary while the songs were crooned by Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Manna dey, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

Arun ( Sunil Dutt ) is living a wealthy lifestyle alongwith his parents and a younger brother named Madhu ( Rajendra Nath ) in their palatial house. His father, Ramkrishan ( Raj Mehra ) is a judge by profession. Arun himself is a doctor by profession. He is very kind hearted person who always remains ready for the help of poors and ill people. He decides to re locate in a village so that he can help the villagers. There he meets with a beautiful girl named Sumati ( Vyjayanthimala ), who is a nurse by profession. Sumati is living in the village alongwith her mother named Laxmi. Soon they both falls in love with each other.

Arun and Sumati then decides to get married to each other. Arun tells his family about Sumati to which they readily agreed. Arun then asks Sumati’s mother to have ameeting with his parents. Aruna and Sumati goes for an important operation leaving behind his parents and Laxmi to meet in private. Arun aks his mother about the result of the conversation but he get shocked when his father ask him to forget about Sumathi. What is the reason behind Arun’s father’s sudden refusal to this relationship.
