Yesteryear hit film, Julie, directed by K. S. Sethumadhavan was rleased on 18 March 1975. The movie starred Laxmi Narayan and Vikram in lead roles while Nadira, Utpal Dutt and Rita Bhaduri also played important roles in the movie. The superhit music of the film was given by Rajesh Roshan and the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Preeti Sagar, Usha Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle. The movie was distributed under the banner of Vijaya Productions Pvt. Ltd. Bollywood beautiful actress Sridevi also acted as a child star in the film. The movie was the remake of Malayalam hit Chattakari.The movie won many awards at the Fimfare Awards function of that year.

This film starts with a beautiful young girl, Julie ( Laxmi Narayan ), who belongs to a Christian Anglo-Indian family. Her family consists of an alcoholic father ( Om Prakash ), a religious mother ( Nadira ), a younger brother and sister. Julie meets Shahsi Bhattacharya ( Vikram ), who is the brother of her best friend ( Rita Bhaduri ). She falls in love with him. They shares some intimate moments which leaves Julie pregnant. Julie tells her mother about the pregnancy.

They decides to keep it a secret from the rest of the family. Her mother plans to abort the child first but later changes her decision. Julie is sent away so that she can have her baby in secret. After child’s birth, her mother suggest to left the child in an orphanage. Julie returns her home. Her father has passed away and now she is the primary earner in the family. When vikram returns, Julie tells him about everything. She ask him to marry her but his mother objects as Julie is not of her caste.
