The social and action movie Kanwarlal was released on July 29, 1988. The movie was directed by S S Ravichandra and produced by G Hanumantha Rao. The major roles in the movie were played by Jeetendra, Raj Babbar, Salma Agha and Arjun while Sujata Mehta, Amjad Khan, Silk Smita, Birbal and Rajan Haksar were also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by Bappi Lahiri and the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Amit Kumar, Mohammad Aziz and Salma Agha.

The action and social movie Kanwarlal was a different movie that revolves mostly around Suraj Prakash ( Raj Babbar ) who is a politician. The politician belongs to India and represents the Lok Kalyan Party. He always wanted to raise the issue of latest rage like that of poverty if and when he gets voted and comes in power. There was a corrupt businessman named Kanwarlal ( Jeetendra ) whom he wanted to expose. By stopping his trucks carrying illicit goods, Suraj did expose him but loses several party workers when the driver runs over them, in the process.

Kanwarlal was then arrested on the charge but he was released soon as there was no evidence against him since the file was misplaced by a Junior Public Prosecutor Sandhya ( Sujata Mehta ). The police file a case against Sandhya; she is arrested and held in prison for a trial. She was soon bailed out by Kanwarlal and then released. Then her son gets kidnapped, and it is Kanwarlal who rescues him. She then feels indebted to Kanwarlal and thus starts helping him.
