The action movie Karamayudh was released on April 5, 1985. The movie was directed by Swaroop Kumar and produced by Dimppy. The top roles in the movie were played by Mithun Chakraborty, Pran, Anita Raaj and Bharat Kapoor while the supporting roles were played by Asha Sachdev, Amrish Puri, Asha Lata, Parveen Babi, Birbal, Bob Christo and Kumud Chhugani. The music of the film was directed by Bappi Lahiri while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Sharon Prabhakar, Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.

The movie Karamayudh was a good action film of that time and was able to hold the attention of the audience for a long time. The story of the movie revolved mostly around a woman named Geeta ( Asha Lata ) who is married to an honest and true police officer named Inspector Ashwini. Both loved each other very much and were living happy for a long time until one day this quality of his proved bad. He was shot by some gangster right outside of his house.

There is not much Geeta could do about this but she tries to make her son stand in life. She wanted to make her son Vijay Kumar ( Mithun Chakraborty ) a Police Inspector just like his father and ensure that the city is safe from the bad people. Vijay turns out to be the person his mother wanted him to be, true and honest. During an investigation he finds that his father had a friend Sohanlal Puri ( Amrish Puri ) who can kill anyone to maintain his position and reputation in the market.
