S.U. Sunny directed, Kohinoor was released in 1960 under banner of Republic Film Corporation. The movie starrer Dilip Kumar, Meena Kumari and Leela Chitnis in lead roles while Nazir Kashmiri, Azim, Bina, Jeevan, Raja Kapur, Rekha Mallick, M.Y. Shaikh and Tun Tun also played important roles in the film. The film was produced by Dr. V.N. Sinha and the music of the movie was given by famous Naushad while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi etc. The movie perform well at the box office.

In the begining of the movie Maharaj Dhiraj Rana Chandrabhan of Kailash Nagar passes away and his crown is given to his son Rajkumar Dhivendra Pratap Bahadur Chandrabhan by the senapati named Veer Singh of the kingdom. Veer Singh’s wife also has brought up Dhivendra like her own son and wants him to marry Rajkumari Chandramukhi of Rajgarh. The maharaja of Rajgarh becomes pleased to know about the proposal and decides to send his daughter to Kailash Nagar. On the way she is abducted by her own senapati.

He held her until she gives her consent to marry him. Later Dhivendra rescues her from her senapati and from there romance starts within them but soon once again surrounded by senapati’s men. Dhivendra once again battles with them and gravelly injured but manages to escape. He is looked after by Rajgarh’s Raj Nartaki, Rajlaxmi who also falls in love with him. When he regains his health, he comes to know that Chandramukhi is being against her will at Senapati’s castle. He goes to rescue but captured in the process. Later Chandramukhi is given the choice either wed Senapati or witness the death of Dhivendra.
