Bollywood romantic comedy, Kunwara, directed by David Dhawan and written by Rumi Jaafrey was released on July 14, 2000. The movie starred Govinda and Urmila Matondkar in lead roles while Nagma, Om Puri, Kadar Khan, Mohan Joshi, Inder Kumar, Aasif Sheikh, Johnny Lever and Raza Murad also played important roles in the film. The hit music of the movie was directed by the well known music director Aadesh Srivastava while the songs were rendered by Kumar Sanu, Vinod Rathod, Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik and Hema Sardesai.

The movie starts with a guy named Raju ( Govinda ), who meets witha beautiful girl named Urmila Singh ( Urmila Matondkar ) in New Zealand. They both falls in love with each other after intial misunderstandings. Raju then goes back to India for his work and there he meets with Sharmila ( Nagma ). Sharmila is pregnant with her boyfriend’s child and is now planning to commit suicide as her boyfriend has dumped her.

Raju convince her that he will take care of everything and will also convince her family to accept her. He pretends to be Sharmila’s husband for the time being in front of her family. But the problem arises when Raju learns that Sharmila is actually the elder sister of his girlfriend, Urmila. Now what will he do to convince Urmila and her family members about his innocence?
